Mr. Bruce Parker is the Chairman for Arcus Medical. He graduated from Southwestern at Memphis (now Rhodes College) in 1970 with a degree in chemistry.
Mr. Parker worked as an analytical chemist for Reeves Brothers in Charlotte for six years then served four years as a development engineer for Zimmer, a division of Bristol Myers. In 1986, Mr. Parker left Bristol Myers to form Parker Medical Associates, to develop, manufacture and distribute medical fracture management devices. By 1993, OrthoGlass, an emergency splinting product, was the world-wide leader in the market.
In August, 1996, Mr. Parker sold the splinting assets to Smith & Nephew, a British healthcare company, for $44 million. He retained the patent rights used in sports-protective equipment, now produced by Parker Athletic. Bruce served as President of Smith & Nephew's Casting Division in Charlotte until April, 2000, when he left to become President of Ultrascope, an innovative stethoscope company, which he had purchased a majority share in 1998. In November, 2001, Bruce also assumed the role of President of Parker Athletic Products.
Bruce has served on numerous civic and charitable boards. Currently he is on the boards of Queens University and Rhodes College, and was past chair of the boards of Discovery Place and Friendship Trays, both in Charlotte. |
